A New Direction…

I haven’t posted on here for a while now. I used to write a lot about gaming, as that was my main hobby and chosen profession, but now I have a new job (and have left the games industry), which means I can’t keep up with the latest titles and write full reviews (not that I was ever much good at doing that anyway!).

I considered abandoning the blog, but I have instead decided to take things in a new direction. In this post, I discuss the plans that I have for the blog over the upcoming months.

There will still be video game-related posts. In fact, now that games are my hobby rather than my job again, I am hoping to write more about the games that I actually play for fun. However, I have decided to post about a few other things that matter to me as well.

Research & Technology

Some of what I want to write about relates to my new job as a university researcher. This will include lots of stuff about technology and green energy, which – as well as being tangentially related to my work – includes a lot of positive news (something which I think most of us need at the moment!). I have recently changed my news/social media diet and this has helped to improve my general mood and my outlook on the future, so I thought I’d share some of this stuff here.

Mental Health

Continuing on that theme, I suffered from a range of mental health issues over a prolonged period of time, which is part of the reason why I haven’t kept this blog up to date. Now that I am mostly back on my feet, I have decided to discuss some of these issues and to talk about some of the things that have helped me recover.

Writing

Writing is also becoming a renewed focus for me recently. I’ve got a series of novels that I have been writing on-and-off for some time now, and I’m making a renewed effort to sit down and actually get the damn things finished. I thought I’d share some of my experiences, as well as some of the tips and advice that I’ve picked up along the way.

Final Thoughts

This post is mainly for me to be honest; a statement of intent going forward. I’m hoping to get back into the habit of posting regularly over the next few months and hopefully some of those posts will be a bit more interesting!
